Come and enjoy this 2.5 hour workshop getting creative and jewellery making. Craft your very own hammered sterling silver ring, whether as a gift for somebody or a treat for yourself. Hosted by close expert jewellers. 

They will guide you through the process of making a ring using traditional goldsmithing techniques such as annealing, forging, soldering, and filing to name but a few. In this workshop you will have the option of making either a wide hammered band or two fine hammered stacking rings (as pictured). Over the course of the class you will have plenty of opportunity to practice your newfound skills, as demonstrated by the jewellers throughout.

There’ll be plenty of opportunity for one-to-one interaction with the jewellers during your session. 

We offer gold plating as an optional extra which can be requested and paid for at the end of the workshop. Choose from yellow gold, rose gold or black rhodium plating for your finished ring(s) - prices range from £20 - £40. Please note this service takes up to 3 weeks and you will need to leave your ring(s) with us, which can then be collected or posted out.

Suitable for complete beginners with no previous jewellery making experience.

Recently my boyfriend and I did the make your own silver ring workshop at the oxo tower location. First off, the venue itself was lovely with the work stations being well organised and ready for us. The teachers were very involved in the process; always on hand to help if needed. They would go through a demo for each step and then we would complete it independently (teachers on hand for any help or questions). Overall, the making process was really fun and satisfying. We learnt lots of techniques that our teachers informed us are important in a variety of jewellery making. There is a big emphasis on ensuring that you leave happy with the fit of your ring, with the teachers checking our sizing and also offering to resize any that did not fit. Also, when our rings were being polished we were offered refreshments which was a lovely touch. Personally, I would highly recommend this workshop we found that it was a fun way to create a keepsake for our 3 year anniversary. Thank you!

I enjoyed this class and left with a ring I really liked. I felt the length of the class was good to learn all the techniques, which were clearly taught. There were two instructors, so it was easy to get help when I needed it.

I thought it might be worth mentioning two things. The first is about the options of what you can make. You will leave with a hammered ring - you can't make one in any other finish, as it's through hammering that you get the right size of ring. The ring will be in bright silver, unless you pay extra for them to dip it for you (e.g. in gold or rose gold). You are given the option of making either two stacking rings from round wire, or one wider ring in flat wire - so, for instance, you can't make a wide ring with a rounded profile. As I say, I was very happy with what I made, but some of the pics illustrating this class show rings with a smooth finish, or in colours other than silver, so I had thought those options would be offered as part of the class.

Second, the class description says refreshments and sweet treats will be offered throughout. When I asked about refreshments, I was told they were only offered at the end - we were offered a glass of prosecco or a non-alcoholic alternatives, with a bowl of chewy sweets. That was a lovely way to finish the class, but if you want a drink before the end, you'll need to bring one with you. I definitely needed caffeine for a long and engrossing class!

A molten necklace class exploring the art of reticulation - where  the surface of sterling silver is rippled and ridged through a process of sustained heating, to create beautiful moonscape-like textures. This serendipitous process means that no two necklaces are alike and are truly unique.

Over the course of  2.5 hours you will be guided step by step through a range of  techniques such as  piercing, reticulation and soldering to create your one of a kind necklace. 
 
This fun and engaging workshop gives you the creative freedom to experiment with the reticulation process. Allowing you to make a diverse looking range of  pendants - from molten moonscapes to characterful faces, the choice is yours .

We also offer a range of optional extras for your necklace within the class which include:

- Gemstone setting 
- Solid gold

If you would like to have a solid gold pendant we would make a mould of your sterling silver one created on the day and quote you to have it cast in 9ct/18ct, yellow, rose or white gold.
