Kas & Ros

Come and enjoy this 2.5 hour workshop getting creative and jewellery making. Craft your very own hammered sterling silver ring, whether as a gift for somebody or a treat for yourself. Hosted by expert jewellers. 

They will guide you through the process of making a ring using traditional goldsmithing techniques such as annealing, forging, soldering, and filing to name but a few. In this workshop you will have the option of making either a wide hammered band or two fine hammered stacking rings (as pictured). Over the course of the class you will have plenty of opportunity to practice your newfound skills, as demonstrated by the jewellers throughout.

There’ll be plenty of opportunity for one-to-one interaction with the jewellers during your session. 

We offer gold plating as an optional extra which can be requested and paid for at the end of the workshop. Choose from yellow gold, rose gold or black rhodium plating for your finished ring(s) - prices range from £20 - £40. Please note this service takes up to 3 weeks and you will need to leave your ring(s) with us, which can then be collected or posted out.

Suitable for complete beginners with no previous jewellery making experience.

Participants must be 18 or over.

You will leave with your finished ring(s) on the day, unless you choose to have gold plating.

This class is in a lovely area at the back of a working Jewellery store. The teachers are very helpful and friendly and clearly know what they're doing. Class was very reasonably priced for the two rings and time spent making them.

Amazing evening! I was able to make two silver stacking rings. The teachers would be awesome, patient and knowledge. Get do all the stages of ring building, from cutting, to shaping, to soldering, and decorating. The venue is beautiful and easy to find, and there were some Prosecco and cup cakes! It’s very rare that you get experts who are also great at teaching their skill. Ros and Milena are so knowledgeable and are very good at breaking down all the stages into manageable chunks for their guests. Great hostesses and have a very buzzy atmosphere. This class is designed to provide you with the essential groundwork needed for wax carving all whilst enjoying a cocktail and in a relaxed, creative environment.

Carving wax gives you endless options to freely design whatever ring you want, as you are not limited to a silver wire or strip. This technique allows you to create something 3D, abstract, classic, chunky, geometric or organic, so you can let your imagination run wild!
The workshop begins with a short introduction to the lost wax process and its uses. The Ringsmiths team will inform you about basic tips and tricks on how to design a comfortable ring. Showing you various techniques and tools that can be used.
You will then start by designing/sketching out your ring, (samples and images will be available for inspiration) before beginning to carve your wax.
Once you’re happy with your finished carving we will show you how to complete the ring and prepare it for casting. After the class your wax carved ring will be cast, finished and polished by The Ringsmiths using recycled silver. We will contact you once it’s ready for collection or we can post it out to you. 

If you wish to have your ring gold plated or have your wax cast in solid gold then this will be at an additional cost and can be paid for and decided on the day. 

Your finished silver ring will be ready for collection or posting within 3 weeks after the class.

Extra services such as engraving, gold plating and stone setting are offered at an additional cost. These can be requested at the end of the class. Please note each of these services have a lead time of 3 weeks on top of the casting/finishing time.

Fantastic class but as it takes 30mins to explain the process 1.5 hours isn’t enough so felt slightly rushed at the end. Would be perfect if it’s class was 2.5 hours or 3 hours max - this is the only reason I rated 4 stars and not 5
